Area 3 – week 59-Leaving Dothan Alabama

Dear Family,

I hope that yall have had a great week back home, and that everything is good. it sounds like everyone had a pretty busy week with Halloween and work. its been a great week here in Dothan! we stayed really busy and had one of our most successful weeks since i have been here. the work is really moving along well and we are finding some real promising potential investigators. i am really enjoying Dothan and loving missionary work.
sadly i will be leaving Dothan this week. we got a call from the zone leaders last night for the transfer info. so i am being transferred although i know not where or who ill be serving with. Transfers are on Wednesday and i will find that all out then. so i will be packing up and shipping out. Elder Hawker will be staying and training a new missionary. its a surprise for sure, i did not expect to be leaving this soon, it seems like i just got here. but im excited to see where i will be serving. i am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve here in Dothan. it has been a great learning experience and i have really seen a lot of change in myself. the two transfers that i have served here have been the most enjoyable of my mission and i have really learned how fun missionary work is, and the joy that comes from sharing the gospel. Elder Tautolo and Elder Hawker have been great Elders to serve with and its been a blessing to serve with them. its also been a blessing to have meet the members here in Dothan, they are all great people and great examples of living the gospel. i will miss them all along with the investigators that we have been working with. i will always remember my time here in Dothan, the peanut capital of the world!
This week has gone by quick and we’ve been busy. we saw Wilmer a couple times, he is doing well, we are still working with him to quit smoking. We also taught Ben and Elaina Frickey twice, and they are really coming along great and learning a lot. its too bad that i wont be here to see them get baptized. but i am glad that i was able to help teach them. Wednesday we got to go to the ward Trunk-or-Treat, and that was super fun. we have visited the Hughey’s a couple times this week as well, but are struggling with getting them interested and having good lessons. Thursday we had a trade-off with the zone leaders and i got to go up to Ozark Alabama with Elder Urquiaga. it was a busy day and we taught a lot of people. Friday was fun, we traded back that morning, then Elder Hawker and i had Chaplain duty at the hospital till about 4:30. then we went out to dinner with Elder May and Elder Beahan at Chillies. Elder May’s mom sent him some gift cards so that all of us could eat out before he went home. because it was Halloween we were told that we needed to be inside our apartment at dark, so we were in for the rest of the night. Saturday we had our coordination meeting with our new ward mission leader, brother Israel Pike. Sunday was a great day, Church was awesome, then we had lunch with the Lewis’s at their farm. that was super good, then we visited Barbara with brother Pike and had a good lesson with her. we had dinner with the Allens and challenged them to a month of missionary work. then that evening after we planned we got the call about transfers. its been a great week with lots of great things happening. today we will be going to the National Peanut Festival so that should be lots of fun.
I hope yall have a great week back home and stay safe. ill let yall know next week what happens with transfers. and i will get you my new address and everything. thanks for all that yall do and for the package it was much appreciated. stay sweet!
Love,
Elder Balling
